On the 05-06 of June 2019 Odesa became a real hub for prominent maritime events in the region. The exhibition and forum on Education, Training, And Crewing – ETC-2019 – brought together about 200 delegates from 27 countries and thousands of specialists, seafarers and cadets. Every year, the ETC exhibition and forum become a fine collaborative chance to share knowledge and experience to enhance training and safety across the oceans.
Anglo-Eastern exhibition stand was something the visitors could spot first of all when entering the venue. Designed in the Company’s colours and decorated with the shipowners flags, with the competent staff ready to answer all the questions from the officers and cadets, Anglo-Eastern emphasized its high-profile status not only in the Ukrainian maritime industry, but internationally, too.
The list of speakers and panellists of ETC exhibition and forum never fails to impress, and Capt. Pradeep Chawla, Anglo-Eastern Managing Director, Capt. Somasundar Nair, Director, Fleet Personnel Department are among top guests of the event.
Capt. Chawla addressed the problem and recent advances in ship management in digital era. He pointed out that today, the automation equipping level of marine vessels emerges as a very important problem. Lots of technological operations are performed by means of computers and logic controllers. It means that the issues of reliability and safety as well as cybersecurity are increasingly pressing.
Capt. Nair brought to the spotlight the competiveness of Ukrainian seafarers in international market”. Ukraine continues to provide steady pool of seafarers for the International Shipping. “The market levels continue to be low in almost all sectors making it survival of the fittest”, he says. The presentation looked at various aspects to assess the competiveness of the Ukrainian seafarers in the existing International trade.
This was the 7th consecutive year when the ETC exhibition and forum is initiated and largely supported by Odessa Maritime Academy. In 2019, this leading maritime institution in Ukraine is celebrating its 75th anniversary. So ETC-2019 had a very special atmosphere, because many top maritime officials in Ukraine and most of the officers, including those serving on board of Anglo-Eastern ships, are the graduates of the academy.
ETC Forum yet again proved itself as a perfect platform to discuss topical issues in maritime safety, efficiency of navigation, human resources management, and prevention of marine pollution from ships.
